Paediatric osteopathy

Paediatric osteopathy is a branch of osteopathy focused on the treatment of infants, from newborns and infants to children in their growth phase, in which the approach is very different from that for adults because the body is in a constant process of formation and change.

Through gentle, non-invasive manual techniques, it helps to release physical tensions and blockages, promoting tissue mobility, the child's well-being and development, always adapting the treatment to each stage of growth.

It is advisable to carry out an assessment during the first weeks of life, especially if the labour was prolonged, instrumentalised or if difficulties occurred during birth. In these situations, paediatric osteopathy can help identify and treat any tensions or mobility restrictions resulting from the birth.

In older infants, it is indicated when recurrent discomfort, postural abnormalities, musculoskeletal pain or functional digestive difficulties arise, always as a complement to the assessment and follow-up by healthcare professionals when necessary.

Who is it aimed at?

A holistic approach to help you regain balance, relieve pain, and improve your well-being in a wide range of situations.

  • Cranial shape anomalies (plagiocephaly, craniosynostosis...).
  • Recurrent otitis.
  • Congenital torticollis.
  • Essential and instrumental parts.
  • Colic and reflux in babies.
  • Breastfeeding difficulties.
  • Musculoskeletal pain.
  • Difficulty falling asleep.
  • Nervous system hyperactivity.
  • Motor development problems.
  • Scoliosis and other postural abnormalities.

What are the benefits of paediatric osteopathy?

The treatment of any of the pathologies described previously will provide us with:

  • Promotes mobility and balance of the musculoskeletal system.
  • Helps to release tensions arising from pregnancy, childbirth or growth.
  • Contributes to the well-being of the baby and child with gentle, tailored techniques.
  • It can complement the treatment of certain functional disorders, always within an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Promotes harmonious development by respecting each child's pace.
