Structural Osteopathy

Structural osteopathy treats restrictions of mobility in the joints, muscles and other body structures that can cause pain, stiffness or restricted movement.

Through specific manual techniques, and when necessary with structural techniques such as the thrust, the aim is to restore mobility, relieve pain and re-establish the body's functional balance, always with treatment tailored to each individual.

Structural osteopathy is based on manual techniques aimed at the musculoskeletal system with the objective of restoring the physiological mobility of the joints.

Include

  • Low-amplitude, high-velocity passive mobilisation techniques (thrust), applied to joints with limited mobility.
  • Musculoskeletal system treatment: muscles, joints, fascia, and ligaments.
  • Joint manipulations, mobilisations and myofascial release techniques.

Scientific evidence

  • Moderate evidence in the treatment of low back pain (Cochrane).
  • Recommended as a first-line treatment for non-specific low back pain (American College of Physicians).
  • Significant improvements in low back pain with osteopathic treatment (Licciardone et al.).

Its mechanisms of action include central pain modulation, improved mobility, and effects on the nervous system.

Who is it aimed at?

A holistic approach to help you regain balance, relieve pain, and improve your well-being in a wide range of situations.

  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Back pain
  • Cervicobrachial neuralgias
  • Sciatica
  • Postural imbalance
  • Visceral functional problem
  • Headaches

What are the benefits of structural osteopathy?

The treatment of any of the pathologies described previously will provide us with:

  • Regain mobility in joints with restricted movement.
  • Relieves musculoskeletal pain, especially in the back, neck and limbs.
  • Improve the function of muscles, joints, fascia and ligaments using specific manual techniques.
  • Restores the body's functional balance with joint mobilisations, myofascial release and, when indicated, structural techniques (thrust).
  • Promoting global well-being, improving mobility, reducing tension, and stimulating the natural regulatory mechanisms of the nervous system.

The effectiveness of osteopathic manual therapy in the treatment of lumbar and cervical pain is supported by various international studies and clinical guidelines.
